Healthy Blackberry and Apple Crumble

Ingredients

  • 3 cooking apples

  • Punnett of blackberry’s

  • 2 cup of oats

  • 1 cut of pecans

  • ½ cup of raisins

  • ¼ of a cup of maple syrup

  • 2 heaped tablespoons of coconut oil

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon of nutmeg

  • 5 majool dates


This delicious infusion of autumn seasonal fruit flavours makes a delicious dessert or healthy snack for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Instructions

  1. Place the peeled and cubed apples and washed blackberries in boiling water until softened. Then place in a baking dishing.

  2. Melt the coconut oil with the maple syrup, cinnamon & nutmeg. Then stir in the oats into the sticky mixture while adding the chopped majool dates & chopped pecans.

  3. Evenly spread the crumble mixture on top of your fruit & place in the oven for 20 minutes on 180C, until golden brown topping.

Oats are packed full of dietary fibre called beta-glucan. This particular type of fibre is known to help lower levels of bad cholesterol. They also benefit from essential minerals such as manganese, selenium, phosphorous magnesium & zinc.

This classic apple & blackberry crumble is ideal for diabetics, vegans or if you are health conscious and want a treat with a great taste.
