The sweet potato has certainly earned its reputation as a delicious & healthy food packed with vitamins. They can be used in sweet desserts as well as savoury dishes & their rich dense quality allows them to shine & take a lead role over all the normal processed ingredients usually found in this recipe.
These brownies are incredibly simple to make & yet deliciously dense & very satisfying. I guarantee this recipe will fully satisfy any chocolate brownie craving you may have. Additionally this recipe will not leave you with a heavy guilty feeling afterwards!
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius
Peel the sweet potatoes & chop into small junks & steam for about 20 minutes.
Start processing the cooked sweet potatoes along with the pitted dates until a smooth mixture has formed. You may need to stir the mixture periodically during this process to help encourage a smooth texture.
In a separate bowel start folding in all the ingredients slowly adding the water.
Take one rectangular cake pan already lined with parchment paper & pour the batter into the pan. Bake for around 25-30 minutes or until you can pierce the cake with a knife that comes out dry. This mixture normally allows for around ten brownies. I would recommend letting the brownie mixture cool for around 10 minutes before you cut them as the mixture needs this time to stick together.
These brownies are good for because they are packed with vitamin B6, which is fantastic for helping beating depression & balancing hormones. The Sweet potatoes are a wonderful source of Vitamin C, which is fantastic for accelerating the healing process, & supports the collagen in the skin by encouraging your skins youthful elasticity.
Sweet potatoes rich orange colour means that they are high in carotenoid which is a precursor to vitamin A in your body. This helps strengthen your eyesight & boosts our immunity to disease. Carotenoids are a powerful antioxidant that help ward off cancer & protect against the effects of aging..
The unique ingredient I used was Milled flaxseeds because they provide a wonderful source of omega-3 fatty acids, a type of fat you need to get from your diet. Omega-3 fatty acids make up a part of your nerve cell membranes. Getting enough omega-3s in your diet promotes healthy nerve function, while low omega-3 fatty acid levels decrease cognitive function and increase your risk of depression. Eating sources of omega-3 fatty acids also benefits your cardiovascular system, reducing inflammation linked to heart disease.
These brownies are deliciously satisfying & healthy, so you definitely need to treat yourself to them.
